For as long as I can remember, my Nan has always been there in both good times, and bad. Alas! Now she is gone! But I closed my eyes and I see her, I feel her. I hear her whispered reassurance of her forever presence. My Nan was the best Nan any little girl could wish for. Her clear blue eyes always glistened and sparkled. Her beautiful face was always lit with happiness and her soul filled with serenity. Her voice a melody. Her smile was so much sweeter than any delicious cake, lolly or culinary delight she lovingly made for me. Her cuddles and kisses soothed away any hurt. Her kindness out shone the brightest of stars in the night sky. Her nimble fingers sewed furnishings, knitted and stitched garments and creative craft to envy. My Nan always dressed in a rainbow of our Lord's promise. Her stride always held purpose. Her patience was to be admired. Her love and friendship to be treasured. It never was an issue that my Sister Susan, Brother Warren and myself were adopted. My Nan loved us equally and unconditionally. My Nan rarely complained, though, throughout her life she was not immune to grief, tragedy or hardship. She suffered her own personal losses, anguish and pain. But never again. No longer to suffer. Now in the care of the Angels. I will always love my Nan. |

My Precious Lily

My precious Lily
Oh my courageous Lily
Peace has come at last
There's no more pain for you
Now sleep my Lily
My precious Lily
No more is there to do
You lie so still
Not a breath
Our Lord has taken your hand
So go my Lily
Be not afraid
This is how God has planned
Your earthly presence a memory
Now forever etched
I can feel as I grieve
But I see your face
You're smiling now
My Lily's forever free
Should I rejoice?
Should I weep?
Mortal existence allows a choice
Yes my Lily
My precious Lily
I know I should rejoice
I lift myself through tearful eyes
To the brightest star above
Yes my Lily
My precious Lily
It's you who smiles with love.

Precious Lily Sleep
Cradled in the arms of our Lord
My precious Lily sleep
Our tears blessed by the Angels
We pray the Lord your soul to keep
Oh Lord! Of love and mercy
We'll miss out precious Lily so
Light for her the brightest path
So she'll know where to go
Lord! Lead our Lily by the hand
To the Heavens up above
Please guide her to your warm embrace
And send with her our love
A precious flower whose memory
Will bloom in our hearts forever
