The Marriage of Robert & Pip
8th December 2001

Let me share with you, a story about a special Son of mine
Now joined by matrimony in the eyes of God divine
Congratulations Rob, my Son and Pip, your lovely Bride
We welcome you into our life, we can't contain our pride
Not two prouder parents, in the whole world could there be
A gift of love from our hearts now, we give so easily
We're thrilled you've chosen our Son, Pip to share the Duncan name
Our gift of future memories within this glass & frame
Lady fair and lovely, ideally suited to our Son
A new, exciting journey in your lives, has just begun
We promise to support your dreams, we'll help in any way
Always we'll be there for you, forever and a day
Brett, your "Black-sheep" Brother, Simone, sweet Matty too
Are here to celebrate this very special day with you
And Mark your oldest Brother; yet to wed but 1st child born
Intends on celebrating with you well into the dawn
Now I mustn't neglect to mention, Justin & Benno
If not for these two special friends, Rob would have married years ago
The many times you've made us proud, today our biggest smiles
Rob, our child, most clever, you've come so many miles
An ardent "Hawks" supporter, a one-eyed Hawthorn fan
Yesterday our little boy, today a fine young man
Certainly Lily & Zilva, your Grandmothers would delight
If they could be here for you now, to share this precious night
Memories of their tender warmth, memories of their love
They are with us in spirit, as they smile from stars above
These words can never quite express just what we need to say
But these words composed, immortalize this blessed & joyous day
In fifty years, again you'll read these words encased by frame
Words which will remind you of our love time and again
On behalf of my dear wife, my friends; Rob's lovely Mother, Merle
And as the proudest Father in the whole entire world
We now extend our heartfelt joy, a toast I do propose
To our newest family member and the special man she chose
To Pip's fine parents, Rob's new In-Laws, Tony & Jenny

A message from my heart to Jennifer & Glen I send

I now create a memory for this couple I adore

A treasured memory to last a lifetime, even more

To Jennifer & Glen, my special gift for you today

Poetic words on paper express just what I want to say

To tell you I'm so proud of you, a beautiful young bride

Who stands beside her handsome man, both hearts filled with pride.

 My little sister Jennifer on this, your Wedding Day

A happy life for you both, forever now I pray

I wish for you the very best, may all your dreams come true

My gift of words on paper, to show my love for you

Jennifer, a lovely person, generous and kind

The Marriage of Desmond & Sonia

21st October 2000

To a very special couple, to a new life now begun

To wish you all the very best, two lives are now as one

Congratulations now expressed in a most poetic way

To dear Des and Sonia, on this. your Wedding Day

Surely no coincidence, most certainly was fate

First meeting was the Canberra Cattle Show in ‘98

Once, twice, thrice you met, it comes as no surprise

Introduced to Desmond, Sonia fell into his eyes

Second meeting some months on, a function to attend

Chatted briefly, going separate ways at evening’s end

Once again to part, to leave the function all alone

Un-be-known to Sonia, Des took her name tag home

Third meeting more months on, a BBQ with friends

This time lots of chatting, but the evening had to end

Boldly Sonia made the move when Des prepared to leave

It was now or never and the rest is history

Now Family come together to join in wine & festive fare

To celebrate the union of two lovers vows declared

Here today are gathered friends, to help you celebrate

Rhythmic words of harmony which now congratulate

So here’s to Des and Sonia, raise your glasses everyone

The Blessed Union of Two Souls

A couple joined by matrimony on this joyous day

Through rhythmic verse of poetry, captures what we want to say

Pet & Jamie, our dearest friends, God Bless your eternal love

'Twas not a mere coincidence, 'twas given from above

Both writers with a love for words, for life and all it brings

The love you share is sincere, void of petty things

James, a fine young English man, has travelled to this land

He here found Petronella and today he's her husband

So similar in background and personalities

Now you’ve found each other all the pain and hurt will ease

Two lovers of the outdoors, nature lover's answered prayers

Above the world you peered through clouds, atop the Himalayas

This Blessed union of two souls can only mean one thing

This union was a Blessing from the Heavens, Angels sing

And now we all are here today to help you celebrate

To share with you a meal and wine, we then congratulate

A lifetime now awaits you for adventure to be shared

James and Petronella, your love just cannot be compared
